New Research on Ultra-Narrow Linewidth Semiconductor Lasers

Date

A group of bright minds, led by Simon T. Thomsen and Jeppe H. Surrow of Aarhus University,  has conducted a new research on achieving sub-kHz linewidth in semiconductor lasers.

They have successfully demonstrated a tunable laser with sub-kHz linewidths across the C-band using a dual-cavity optical feedback system with robust polarization control.

The laser control board was designed by AimValley’s own Chris Hoede.

This scalable, cost-effective approach offers a practical solution for narrow-linewidth laser applications, including coherent optical communication and precision sensing.
